SAN DIEGO, California – One person was killed and four others injured Thursday night during a shooting in downtown San Diego, according to local police.

The shooting took place around 10:30 pm Thursday in front of a hotel located at 500 J St., downtown, said Lt. Andra Brown of the San Diego Police Department.

Authorities said the fatality was a 28-year-old white male, but did not reveal his identity.

The police detained one person. At the moment it is unknown what caused the shooting.

Of the four injured, three were taken to hospitals for treatment.
