NEW JERSEY – A festival of music, art, film and technology is coming to the Garden State this summer – and one of the up-and-coming artists set to take part is none other than the legendary rock band fronted by Carlos Santana .
Governor Phil Murphy, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Asbury Park Mayor John Moor and Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Jr. jointly announced the North to Shore Festival on Monday, starting June 7.
The festival will be hosted by three cities: Atlantic City (June 7-11), Asbury Park (June 14-18) and Newark (June 21-25).
“We are thrilled to announce North to Shore, New Jersey’s first multi-city festival celebrating the best in music, comedy, film and technology,” Murphy said. “This superstar event, held over three weekends in June, will draw people from all over, creating another great reason for tourists to visit the Garden State, as well as opportunities for local businesses to shine in three of our iconic cities. “.
According to the governor, the festival “will generate economic activity and have a significant impact on our region”.
The festival will feature comedy shows, film premieres, concerts and even presentations from leaders in green energy, technology and business.
“Newark has a long history of spreading brilliance to the world. It is the birthplace of passionate artists of all persuasions, stellar innovators in industry and science, celebrated intellects in education and philosophy, and brave hearts at the helm of social progress,” Baraka said. “We are thrilled to welcome so many unique creative talents to perform in our world-class halls and historic stages, and we open our arms visitors from around the world to enjoy North’s exciting display of expression and ideas. the vibrant energy that makes the city of Newark so wonderfully unique.”
Meanwhile, Moor said that while “Asbury Park has a prolific arts scene, and while we’re best known for our musical history, we’re also home to a host of creators in all art forms, including film, dance, theater and visual arts.
Small shared similar sentiments, saying Atlantic City has a rich history when it comes to entertainment, as well as being “a prime location for filming award-winning productions.”
“Our heritage is based on innovative art. We are honored to have been chosen by Governor Murphy as one of the hosts of the North to Shore Festival,” said Small.
