San Francisco is launching a pilot program that will guarantee monthly income for artists affected by the covid-19 pandemic.
Mayor London Breed announced the program on Thursday in a statement. It would guarantee monthly payments of $ 1,000 for about 130 San Francisco artists for six months starting in May.
The city partnered with the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) in an effort to revive the economy and the arts in San Francisco, according to the statement.

This income pilot program is part of several guaranteed income programs that the City of San Francisco is developing to assist residents and “promote economic stability and recovery,” the statement said.
Applications are open and will be accepted until April 15.
