A Miramar police officer has been arrested for domestic assault and kidnapping, authorities said.
Officer Joshua Bogwandas, 26, was arrested by detectives on Monday, Miramar police officials said.
According to an arrest affidavit, Bogwandas is charged with punching his girlfriend of two years in an incident on Monday morning.
The girlfriend told police the pair had been at a club in Miami drinking and smoking weed and were leaving when she noticed a text on her phone from her ex-baby friend, according to the affidavit.
She said she was upset and when they got home, Bogwandas “kept insisting she tell him about what she saw on her phone, but the victim said she didn’t. didn’t want to and that she left her alone,” the affidavit reads.
After laying down on her bed, Bogwandas climbed on top of her and pinned her to the bed, then began smothering her, according to the affidavit.
