McDonald’s is launching its new “Wakanda Forever” Happy Meal, a sleek black and purple box that includes one of ten superhero toys from the movie.
Following the success of its Adult Happy Meal and Halloween-themed Happy Meal, McDonald’s is launching its new “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” Happy Meal inspired by the Marvel Studios movie.
McDonald’s new Happy Meal coincides with the “Black Panther” movie sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which hits theaters on November 11.
The new happy meal meal includes one of ten “Wakanda Forever” superhero toys based on characters from the original film and the sequel, from fan favorites like Shuri and Okoye to newcomers like Namor and Ironheart.
McDonald’s has also changed the design printed on the Happy Meal box. The sleek black and purple packaging is patterned after the Black Panther uniform, while traditional gold bows are found on the handles and there is a gold smiley face in the center of the box.
The popular burger chain says the new Happy Meal brings the world of Wakanda to life in restaurants and gives everyone a chance to see and celebrate their inner hero. The new Happy Meals are available now for a limited time at participating restaurants across the United States while supplies last.
“The first Black Panther movie inspired a new generation of Marvel lovers, and that’s because of the powerful story it told, brought to life by an incredibly talented cast,” said Jennifer Healan, McDonald’s vice president of marketing.
McDonald’s has had great success with the latest editions of its Happy Meal. The “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” box follows the collectible Halloween Happy Meal Buckets and the Adult Happy Meal Cactus Plant Flea Market Box designed to spark feelings of “nostalgia” among its older customers.
Adult Happy Meal toys are listed for up to $300,000 on eBay. Placer.ai found that McDonald’s collaboration with the clothing brand generated a 30% increase in visits during its first week, and boxes were scarce within days of its launch. With this new box, McDonald’s could once again increase purchases of its products.
