A man fired into a business wounding two people in the city of Frederick, Maryland, on Tuesday morning, less than a week away from the last shooting in the state.

According to the chain’s report CNNAt around 8:00 am, the man went to the Fort Detrick military base, where personnel fired at him neutralizing him.

Although the police in their report did not publicly identify the shooter, the United States Navy identified him as a corpsman from a navy hospital.

The attacker was 38 years old and authorities believe he entered a business at Riverside Tech Park, northeast of the city, where he opened fire in or near the place, wounding two men.

At a press conference, Police Chief Jason Lando told reporters that after his attack, the man drove directly to Fort Detrick, less than 10 minutes after the shooting, where “base personnel” fatally shot him.

The wounded men at the tech park are in critical condition, so they were airlifted to a hospital in Baltimore.

Lando added that for now the authorities do not know why the suspect opened fire on the business, as well as why he later went to the military base.

Fort Detrick police shot the suspect after he walked through the gate at the post, officers reported.

“Medical procedures were initiated to save his life, but the shooter was pronounced dead at the scene,” the fort said in a post on its official Facebook.

“We have two different scenes … we need to confirm that there was only one assailant and that the public is no longer at risk,” Lando added.

The account of the US Navy also reported what happened on Twitter.

“The US Navy can confirm that there was a shooting at Fort Detrick, which involved navy medical personnel. The shooter, a medic at the Hospital de la Marina, died. We will continue to update with additional details as the situation evolves, ”the account wrote.

Police received the emergency call for the first crime scene around 8:20 a.m., although many people had already fled the scene when they arrived.

At the moment the authorities have not released the names of the victims, the shooter, or the businesses involved.

This incident comes less than a week after another shooting will be registered in the state, which left 5 dead, including the shooter, who committed suicide after the attack.

On March 29, 27-year-old Joshua Green killed two people, subsequently murdered his parents, burned down his house and took his own life.

During the shooting, Green attacked three people at a Royal Farms store in Essex, in Baltimore County, Maryland, two of whom died and the third ended up hospitalized.
