There’s a lot going on tomorrow with the Governor’s State of the State address kicking off the legislative session at the state Capitol.
For the next 60 days, Florida lawmakers gather at the State Capitol to debate and vote on new Florida laws. While some of the governor’s priorities have already received a lot of attention, there are other issues affecting the pockets and lives of Floridians.
Ana María Rodríguez, state senator, says, “which are funds to help and get into affordable housing. This is something very important, it is a crisis not only in South Florida but also in the rest of the state”.
In the Senate, Ana María Rodriguez sponsors the Declaration of the Rights of Residents in Associations, which is sponsored by a new representative in the chamber.
Juan Carlos Porras, State Representative (R), says: “Most of the residents have brought complaints to me about abuses of power that have occurred in these associations. Many of them have told me that there are problems with the elections that money has even been stolen as we have seen in the lls Hammocks situation and that is why it is a number one priority as a representative of my community.
After working in politics for 30 years, Alina Garcia, a Republican, holds her first elected office. She is also a mother of three children and a grandmother of 11.
“It’s a big inspiration because all of my family and all of us live here in the state of Florida and it’s very important that the state of Florida continues to move in the right direction.”
Education is his priority. Aid allowing parents to choose the type of school to which they send their children with public funds
“Let the money go with the student. If you want to go to a parochial school or if you want to go to a charter school or whatever school you want, the money goes with you,” says García.
And she backs the governor’s education agenda that’s been rejected by Democrats like Miami-Dade Teachers’ Union President Karla Matz, who says, “Say, look, we’re going to attack gay people, we’re going to sow terror against it. People we’re not going to teach what African-American studies is, we’re going to throw out books so many things that are nonsense in the United States”.
“We’re not attacking anyone here, but me personally and a lot of people think like me, there are certain things parents need to educate their kids,” Garcia said.
While the carrying of weapons without a license promises to provoke an intense debate.
Debbie Murcarsel Powell Foundation of the Giffords, dice:
They want to go back to the days when anyone, almost anyone can carry a firearm with no license, no license, no background checks and no training and it is extremely dangerous.
Although this bill may have some changes, it is expected to be approved. Other issues include expanding restrictions on abortion. The new law of 15 weeks. And various immigration bills. There is plenty to do in Tallahassee.
