Early Monday morning, there was a shooting in a Miami Beach neighborhood in which a homeless man was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
The incident happened around 2:55 a.m. when Miami Beach police said they received a call about a shooting near 16th Street and Alton Road. Officers arrived at the scene and found a man with apparent gunshot wounds.
The man, whom police identified as homeless, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he is in critical condition, authorities said.
An unidentified man was seen running north on Alton Road shortly after the incident. Several officers and a perimeter police remained in the area.
Traffic was restricted in the area at dawn Monday on Alton Road between 16th Street and Lincoln Road.
