Fans of horror video games are in luck because in recent months we’ve seen a resurgence in the genre. And nostalgia also plays an important role, we have seen the return of titles as incredible as the resident Evil classics, and even the Silent Hill saga is starting to loom again on the horizon.
But if there is a terrifying saga that marked my adolescence which is undoubtedly Dead Space. Just a few days ago we received the highly anticipated remake of the first installment, but was the saga really a hit for EA or is it just a cult saga that some of us remember fondly? affection ? Well, let’s check it out by going back in time and examining sales of the Dead Space saga.
Dead Space Total Sales (2008)
We started, how could it be otherwise, with the game that started it all. dead space was born from the mind of the legendary video game developer Glen Schofieldwho set out to create a franchise that reinvented the survival horror genre and go to another level.
The truth is that the proposal was a complete success and of Visceral Games knew how to mix all the ingredients with great art to create a unique experience. They especially highlighted their dark and oppressive settingoverwhelming even when there were no monsters on screen, and the incredibly satisfying playable mechanic of being able to dismember enemies and impale them with their own severed limbs.
Dead Space managed to sell 2 million copies which, although it may not seem like much, for a brand new (and therefore unrecognized) franchise and above all for such a niche genre, it’s not bad at all. It was by no means a bestseller, but it managed to place the name dead space in the map.

How many copies has Dead Space 2 sold?
Dead space 2 he did exactly what was expected of him. now without Schofield At the head of the study, the development team was able to select what worked in the previous opus and improve it in this sequel. Dead Space 2 is a sequel to use, which takes all the good of the previous one and risks with some other new mechanics, but don’t try too hard. To my taste it’s a little less round than the original game, but it’s still a terrifying experience that you have to play yes or yes if you played the first one.
Regarding sales, Dead Space 2 has sold 4 million units on the various platforms on which it was released. Yes, twice as much as the first installment. This makes sense, because by 2011 Dead Space had already established itself as a franchise and was enjoying some popularity. Again, we are not talking about a game that marked a before and after in terms of the number of copies sold, but 4 million is without a doubt a very solid number that many (even triple A) dream of reaching.

How much did Dead Space 3 sell for?
With that, we come to what many, myself included, consider the black sheep of the Dead Space franchise. And not without reason. Dead Space 3 strayed completely from the franchise’s essence and opted for more action-oriented gameplay than pure survival horror.
The reality is that the move went really badly wrong for EA, because Dead Space 3 was a resounding failure both critically and commercially. So much that Electronic Arts never came to offer a concrete figure, and even to this day, how many copies of the game are scattered around the world remains a mystery. What we know is that Dead Space 3 sold less than the previous installment. Undoubtedly the worst game in the series and therefore also (perhaps) the least sold.

Did Dead Space (2023) sell well?
Fans of the franchise have been clamoring for the return of Isaac Clarke for years, and when it seemed all was lost, we finally had a voice and EA greenlighted a full remake of the first installment. We have only been immersed in this matter for a few weeks. Dead Space Remake and the truth is that In my opinion, it met (and even exceeded) all of my expectations.
As for the sales figures, we still don’t know anything, but Everything seems to indicate that the game was very well received by the public and that it sold rather well. As a relatively niche game, don’t expect them to ever reach the monstrosities sold by other games, but chances are that when EA finally shares the numbers for Dead Space Remake, they’ll be solid. .

In our Dead Space Remake review we conclude that “preserves and enhances the thrills of the 2008 episode and brings back to life one of the best horror and survival games of the last 20 years. A remake that, in addition to being a nice facelift, introduces some playable mechanics and nuances the original work in a certain way to improve it.
