At least five people were hospitalized over the weekend after a heavy shooting in Shreveport, northwest Louisiana, the third massive attack in the United States in less than 24 hours, the US affiliate reported. CBS KSLA on Sunday.

City police told reporters that it is in the early stages of the investigation, so they cannot yet confirm the exact number of people admitted to the hospital or their health status.

“We responded tonight to a traffic congestion and during that congestion, numerous shots were fired,” said a spokesman for the institution.

One person is known to have been shot in the head, while another suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to Ochsners LSU Health and other hospitals near the attack, which took place around 9 pm on Hearne Avenue.

Sunday’s shooting came after the United States recorded several similar incidents in recent weeks, including that of a gunman who killed eight workers and then took his own life at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis on Thursday night.

At least seven deadly mass shootings occurred in the country over the past month.

On the same Sunday, but earlier, three people were killed at an apartment complex in Austin, Texas, and police detected a former deputy sheriff as a prime suspect.

Three other people were killed and two injured in a shooting that broke out inside a bar in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, early Sunday morning.

The rise in mass shootings is strengthening public pressure for the Joe Biden administration to tighten regulations on gun purchases. According to an agency survey by Reuters, most Americans support stricter laws, but Washington has done little to address the problem in recent years.
