NEW YORK — Three people died in a house fire that raged in the Hudson Valley It became so intense that first responders were unable to enter to rescue victims, despite being told there could be trapped residents, authorities said Thursday.
The police first responded to a call in Highland Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Thursday. The house was completely on fire when they arrived.
Neighbors told police residents could still be inside, but police said officers were unable to enter due to heavy fires. Firefighters immediately began to put out the fire and attempted to rescue those arriving.
The identity of the victims has not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
