FIFA 23: These are the twin FUT Birthday upgrade cards that arrived today

No more FUT Birthday Icons have appeared this Sunday, April 2, the last one so far has been Gennaro Gattuso and came to FIFA 23 via SBC. But we have new active player FUT birthday cards. And it is that EA Sports repeats the dynamics of the twin improvements with Guendouzi, Pessina and Maehle. This is why each of these three footballers has two different items that appear at the same time in the Ultimate Team envelopes.

They will appear in packs until April 7 at seven in the afternoon, Spanish time. And apart from changing the dynamic images, the big difference between the maps is that some combine four stars for skills and five for bad leg, while others achieve five for skills and four for bad leg. But the numbers, positions and stats are the same for every player.

Mattéo Guendouzi (O. Marseille – Ligue 1 – France)

He’s French from Ligue 1 and other versions of him in Ultimate Team have been popular before, so he could come with a hefty price tag. But if it weren’t outrageously expensive, could be someone very interesting as a box to box midfielder.

His pace could be even higher, too bad he only reaches 84 in IQ and as he measures 1’85, you should not expect exquisite dribbling. But it won’t be too clunky either because of the dribbling stats and because his body type is Tall and Balanced+ instead of Tall and Balanced. In addition to most of its attributes are very convincing.

Defensive numbers are pretty good and will be even more noticeable for height. But Guendouzi FUT Birthday could also be important on the ball thanks to the stars and his favored passing stats. It is very interesting that he reaches 91 vision and a short pass of 94.

It might even matter with the odd sporadic goal. For a midfielder, reaching 80 finishes is very good in the current era of FIFA 23. Even more so when shot power goes up to 92, positioning to 89 and is not limited by skill or bad leg.

So it’s a fairly promising midfielder and can very easily fit into the hybrids. It may have a high price, but the logic is that it offers great performance in the field.

Matteo Pessina (Monza – Serie A – Italy)

Less complete footballer than Guendouzi, although could be good as MC organizer/comer for low cost models. But as an attacker, I don’t recommend it because its acceleration is low for the first positions (83) and it should hurt the rest of the attributes.

However, his speed is very good to play as a midfielder. I wish his work rate wasn’t medium/average, but he combines a decent 81 strength with decent defensive stats. So, accompanied by someone more solid, he should almost always comply.

While with the ball, we would take advantage of his Slim Body Type and the stars. It will have enough resources to advance the counters through conductions and playing with his companions. Because Pessina FUT Birthday doesn’t disappoint either due to vision numbers (88) and short passing (91).

And while it may be harder in FIFA 23 to do damage with incoming midfielders, in the last meters it could be very important. For its quality, for not being limited by skills or a bad leg and because the shooting attributes are worthy of a striker: 90 positioning, 86 finishing, 87 shot power and 83 long shot.

Joakim Maehle (Bergamo – Serie A – Denmark)

There have been plenty of interesting and affordable full-backs in Ultimate Team lately, so perhaps that won’t be too surprising. But anyway, Maehle FUT Birthday seems yet another solid option that could be priced very low.

His defensive stats aren’t amazing but decent, and they should work even better for their 83 in strength and 1’85 in height. And while that length hurts the dribbling numbers, they’re also very decent for an RL. Same as vision (85), short pass (85) and long pass.

So Maehle FUT Birthday might not be very flashy at this stage of FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, but I expect him to perform very well. Be the typical affordable player able to satisfy almost always, both in his own half and in the opposite half. And if you as a user are very good at skills, you can use the five watermark version to make his tall and balanced body type less boring.
