NEW YORK — Mayor Eric Adams is expected to make an announcement Thursday afternoon regarding the expansion of mental health services in New York City.
The mayor will share his plan to help New Yorkers with mental illnesses and address issues such as drug use, homeless people with serious mental illnesses living on the city’s rail system, and a plan to prevent teenage suicide.
The issue of mental health has been a major one in the Adams administration, one of his most recent proposals was that homeless people with serious mental illness be moved to centers to receive the treatment they need.
