The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police (LVMPD) arrested a man on Tuesday morning for impaired driving after a pedestrian was hit and kicked on Las Vegas Boulevard.
Brandon Kelekolio, 32, was taken into custody after showing signs of disability and failing field sobriety tests, Metro reported.
The crash was reported around 2:17 a.m. near 3750 S. Las Vegas Boulevard near Flamingo.
The victim, a 45-year-old Canadian, died at the scene. His name has not been released by the coroner’s office.
Police said evidence and surveillance video showed the man crossing the Las Vegas Strip at Caesars Palace Drive when the crossing signal was not active to walk.
While the driver of a northbound Chevrolet Trail Blazer had a green light when he hit the pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene, is cooperating with authorities and was taken to the Clark County Detention Center.
Police closed northbound lanes near Flamingo for five hours to investigate.
