The self-publishing strategy of the independent French studio Dontnod Entertainment will accelerate in the coming years with original creations.

With 23.6 million euros in turnover (compared to 18 million euros last year, an increase of 31%), Dontnod Entertainment ended its fiscal year on a high note, in particular thanks to the solid commercial performances of Twin Mirror, Life is Strange and Vampyr which led to an 83% growth in royalties. Nevertheless, Dontnod recorded a decrease in publisher royalties (-18% to 9.7 million euros) for the 2020 financial year, knowing that there was a 2.5-fold increase in production immobilized at 10, 1 million euros.

If the Parisian company is a fan of partnerships with big names in the video game industry such as Capcom, Square Enix, Microsoft and Focus Home Interactive, the self-publishing of new licenses remains the main priority: “We are perfectly positioned to accelerate the realization of our development plan, which aims to capture more value from original creations by self-publishing more games and expand the reach of the catalog to mobile platforms and Asia. Thus, the entire pipeline is enriched with new intellectual properties in self-publishing in line with the favorable evolution of the sector in favor of creators of quality original games recognized internationally.

Dontnod Entertainment’s next projects

A year of break before going wild: “We are continuing the development of a new co-production with Focus Home Interactive as well as the design / pre-production of five other self-published titles scheduled for release between 2022 and 2025.
