Disney is celebrating. This year 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of Hollywood’s most famous studio. And how are they going to celebrate? Nothing more and nothing less than with the premiere of a very special film: Wish: The power of wishes.
For the first time in the history of Disney, we will know what is hidden behind the famous star to which all the protagonists of the stories go to grant a wish. In this way, in the tape we will meet Asha, a 17-year-old teenager, who in the original version will have the voice of Ariana DeBose (the Oscar winner for West Side Story).
Now, finally, Disney has revealed the movie’s trailer, telling us some new secrets about its plot. And it’s amazing. In fact, as director Chris Buck said, the land that appears in the new film is said to be inspired by the Iberian Peninsula.
“Asha, our heroine, lives in Rosas, known as the kingdom of wishes,” director Chris Buck, who is directing the film with Fawn Veerasunthorn, told D23. “People come from far and wide to wish for a magic king who promises to one day fulfill their deepest aspirations. Only he can decide which wishes to grant and when.”
In the trailer, in addition to meeting Asha, we meet Valentin: her goat who, thanks to the magic of the star, has the gift of speech. Also the villain of the gang, a kind of king of the kingdom of Rosas who decides what he does with the wishes of the people. In the original voice, this character will be played by Chris Pine.
The film will be released in all theaters on November 24. If Disney follows the strategy of Charm and Strange World, this musical soundtrack will arrive at Disney+ at Christmas 2023. Will it repeat the success of Charm?
Either way, we’re inside this film that takes inspiration from the Iberian Peninsula.
