Members of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Prosecutor’s Office arrested in the last hours the photographer Álex Crux, who allegedly sexually abused the also portraitist Diana Quirós.
She herself made the situation public of which she was a victim through a video broadcast on social networks.
Quirós’ husband confirmed the capture through the photographer’s social networks. In a publication, he wrote a message on the occasion of the women’s day and pointed out that the authorities had confirmed the arrest of Cruz.
“This time Diana is not writing but her husband, I want to say to everyone that I thank you very much for all the support provided and for all your good wishes. Additionally, I wish all women a happy day and that they remember that nothing and no one can ever go beyond their will, that you are more barracks, brave, enterprising and stronger than many men. HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY”, the publication reads.
Later, to close the message, he wrote: “AND A SUPER NEWS IS THAT We want to tell you that we have just been notified that Mr. Alex Cruz was captured a few minutes ago.”
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that it will present the photographer before a guarantee control judge, in concentrated hearings for their respective prosecution by the crimes of carnal access with a person made incapable of resisting aggravated.
Moment of the capture of Alex Cruz in the town of Kennedy, in the south east of Bogotá.
Quirós assured, in an interview with Blu Radio, that he has heard more complaints against Cruz, which causes her concern because, as happened to her, he tends to gain trust easily.
Likewise, she is concerned about the closeness with other women because he is recognized for being a wedding and quinceañera photographer.
In that station, the photographer assured that her husband has been the fundamental support to overcome the situation and carry out the judicial process against Cruz.
Quirós said that after the events, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, they had to look for the identity card number of the alleged aggressor and went to the building where he lives. There they met the photographer and her husband, in a fit of rage, he had to be controlled with taser blasts by the Police.
The Antioquia photographer explained that a few weeks ago she was in Bogotá, because she had a wedding in which she had been hired as a photographer. “That wedding was on Saturday February 27, and I was going to do it in the company of the photographer named David Alexander Buitrago Cruz, better known in the business as Alex Cruz” the woman pointed out.
According to Quirós, she made a reservation at a hotel in the capital city, where she expected to stay the night before the wedding. “But Alex Cruz told me to cancel it because he had me a room in the house of his sister. So I canceled my reservation and, indeed, on the night of February 26, I traveled to Bogotá, where Mr. Alex Cruz picked me up at the airport”.
The photographer explained that before arriving at the house where she was going to stay, they bought something to eat and a six pack of beer. Upon entering the house where Cruz took her, Diana Quirós realized that the photographer’s sister did not live there, but a brother, who took a suitcase and left when they arrived.
In Diana’s memories, at one point in the night, while she was looking at photos of Villa de Leyva on her computer to locate herself, because there was the wedding, Alex Cruz went down to the goal for a moment. When he went upstairs, the photographer began to prepare the food they had bought and they began to drink the beers.
From one moment to the next I don’t remember anything else, I have a lapse between 11:30 at night and two in the morning. When I woke up, it was pure survival instinct, because when I opened my eyes I had Mr. Alex Cruz on top and with his two hands, he had them on my neck, and he was hanging me”.
Diana assures that, as she could, she took all her things and left the apartment, outside a vehicle was already waiting for her that a friend she was able to contact at the time asked her. At that moment, the photographer also shows the messages that, at that moment, Alex Cruz sent her on WhatsApp for running out of the place.
“Dianita, don’t do this to me. I’m worried, talk to me. Are you okay?”, were the messages that the alleged abuser sent her at 2:56 am on Saturday, February 27. At 5:38 am, Cruz writes to Diana again to ask if she is going to go with him to the wedding to take the photos, “I need you,” said the photographer.
Quirós was taken to a nearby hotel, from where she communicated with the National Police and with line 155 or Purple Line that handles cases of violence against women. “An ambulance picked me up and took me to the Palermo Clinic where I was hospitalized for two days.” Quirós detailed in his story.
In the clinic and later in Legal Medicine, tests were performed on Quirós to determine if there was sexual abuse, as well as a toxicology test. In this last examination, the doctors determined that the young woman had in her body a drug called phencyclidine, which is better known as ‘fairy dust’ or ‘peace pill’.
She assured that the examinations confirm her complaint, as well as the use of psychoactive substances to inhibit consciousness, allegedly provided by the photographer Cruz. Those results are in the Prosecutor’s Office to continue with the judicial process against the man.
