Caesars Palace plans to demolish the rotunda that faces the Las Vegas Strip later this year.
Public records filed with the Clark County Building Department indicate that a permit was issued last week for its demolition.
The plan calls for the removal of the 5,006 square foot rotunda across from the LINQ, along with the surrounding landscaping, planters, pillars, statues and obelisk.
The project is valued at $157,500.
Work must begin within 180 days of the issuance of the permit, which would fall in early September, just before the start of Formula 1 in November.
It is unclear what will occupy the space once demolition is complete. Caesars Entertainment has not commented on this.
