Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office officers are investigating a shooting involving an officer after he tried to stop two people from trying to steal a U-Haul truck early Sunday morning.

According to the police report, officers conducted a traffic stop at a U-Haul that was allegedly stolen, during the intercept at 200 Parkwood Drive, Royal Palm Beach, the driver of the vehicle was detained while the co-driver passed to take the driver’s action to flee the place.

Shortly after 5 a.m., the vehicle was located at the Royal Inn hotel. As officers attempted to contact the suspect, she drove the vehicle towards officers and collided with them, according to the report.

An officer fired his weapon as the suspect fled in the vehicle again, but soon after she crashed into a fence and the officers managed to arrest her.

The suspect was shot in the leg, so she was taken to a nearby hospital where the injury was treated. The officer was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) investigates as usual when an officer is involved in a shooting.

The agent is currently on administrative leave, as is customary in departmental protocol.

The suspect has been identified as Taylor Ginger and is charged with assaulting an officer, fleeing the law, among other charges.

The driver has been identified as James Boswell and faces charges of operating a stolen vehicle and also faces charges in other states.
