A biochemist accused of drugging and sexually assaulting multiple women at his luxury Miami Beach condo faces further charges after a fifth woman filed a new lawsuit after admitting to reports that he had been stopped.
Jeremy D. Bittner, 41, was arrested Monday in connection with allegations made by three different women, cases in which he faces various charges of sexual assault, forcible confinement and possession of a controlled substance.
Since then, new victims have continued to surface and her list of assaults is added to seven other charges after police confirmed that other women came forward after seeing reports about Bittner.
The first four alleged incidents occurred at The Waverly South Beach luxury condominium located in the 1300 block of West Avenue.
Miami Beach police said they consider Bittner a serial rapist due to the number of charges against him.
“That’s how we categorize it,” Miami Beach Police Department spokesman Ernesto Rodríguez said. “Unfortunately there is potential for other victims and our message to them is don’t be afraid to come forward.”
“I’m sure it caused pain and suffering that will last the rest of their lives, but fortunately these women had the courage to come forward,” said Ernesto Rodríguez.
HISTORY OF ALLEGED VIOLATIONS*
FIFTH VICTIM
According to the latest arrest report, the fifth alleged victim is a 45-year-old woman who allegedly said Bittner drugged and sexually assaulted her in her own apartment last October.
The woman claims she met the man in the elevator area of her building and he struck up a conversation in which he offered, “Let’s go to the party.”
According to the arrest report, the victim told him she didn’t want to party, but explained that she felt bad for him, so she let him into her home. There, at a time when she had her back to Bittner and turned around, he put a pipette in her mouth and spat out an unknown liquid.
After that, the next thing the woman remembers is that Bittner woke her up and told her he had given her GHB – known as liquid ecstasy and which acts as a powerful central nervous system depressant which can produce feelings of well-being and euphoria.
The woman who felt dizzy, ‘like floating or inside a bubble’, says the alleged rapist started sexually assaulting her because she was unable to defend herself and was under the influence of the liquid he had given her, according to the report. .
Bittner sexually assaulted her at least three times over a period of about nine hours, according to the case report.
The woman recalled that her head was “extremely cloudy and her body was like frozen during the time she was with the subject.”
She “felt that the only way out of the situation was to allow the subject to have sex with her, in the hope that he would not become more violent and ultimately leave his residence”.
When Bittner finally left her home, the woman claims she didn’t report the incident at first because she was ashamed, according to the authorities’ report.
FOURTH VICTIM
This time, the events also happened at The Waverly luxury condominium in South Beach, where residents are unsurprised by the charges, according to comments from some neighbors.
The alleged victim, who suffers from a physical disability, denounced that the accused had raped her twice. A first time, on November 22, and another recently, on February 7 of this year.
The 37-year-old reported what happened to police on Wednesday after seeing reports that the man had been arrested on similar charges.
The victim told detectives that the first time she was at the man’s residence, she was spending time strictly as a friend, as a marriage counselor offering to help him as the man claimed to have problems with his partner.
It seemed odd to the woman that in all areas of the building the accused was always accompanied by women who appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of narcotics, according to the authorities’ report.
On November 22, 2022, the subject invited the victim to his home and, after starting to drink alcoholic beverages, asked her if she wanted to use narcotics, but when the woman refused, since the man smoked crack and was inhaling cocaine, he only accepted a glass of water that Bittner offered him.
During the sexual assault, the man strangled her and repeatedly spat in her face. After he ejaculated inside her, his violent attack stopped.
Although the woman attempted to escape, she was unsuccessful due to difficulty walking. She claimed she didn’t know what Bittner gave her to drink, but she remembers that her body and memory were affected afterwards.
After the incident, the victim discovered an image in her cell phone album, which showed her without pants lying on the man’s sofa, something she does not recall consenting to or giving consent to at any time. to take that photograph.
The arrest report indicates that this last victim decided to move to put this episode behind her, but the day she was packing her things, the man returned to her house, and after refusing to have sex with the subject, he spat on her, pulled her hair and ended up abusing her.
THIRD VICTIM
A 25-year-old woman of Italian descent said she agreed to rent a room from Bittner, but after he arrived in the United States he violently sexually assaulted her, in an incident on October 29, 2022 .
The woman who lived in Rome, Italy, and was looking for a place to rent in Miami Beach said she was contacted by Bittner, who offered her a room for $1,500 a month in his apartment.
After she agreed and arrived in Miami, Bittner picked her up from the airport, but when she arrived at the apartment, she saw a table in the living room covered in drugs.
The woman claims Bittner ingested cocaine and then became physically violent, pulling her over the head and grabbing a gun, after which she told him to “stick to the show.”
According to police reports, Bittner grabbed her by the neck and pushed her onto a sofa, then stripped and sexually assaulted her.
The woman remembers that she tried to fight him, but could not get rid of him, but she was finally able to contact an acquaintance by phone, who answered her call for help and came to get her on site.
Bittner allegedly told detectives investigating him that this encounter was also consensual, according to case reports.
SECOND VICTIM
A 34-year-old woman has made similar charges against the alleged rapist, saying he drugged and sexually assaulted her last month.
The events happened exactly on February 4 of this year.
The gutter woman was in her apartment waiting for the elevator when Bittner approached her and they chatted and exchanged phone numbers. Later, he texted her asking if she wanted a drink that she was okay with.
According to police reports, she went to his apartment, where he offered her cocaine, but after she refused, the alleged rapist made her vodka with ginger ale.
The victim took a small amount and said he almost immediately began to feel “extremely relaxed”, according to police reports.
At one point, Bittner forcefully poured liquid into her mouth, and her next memory was waking up on her couch with Bittner grabbing her by the neck.
She pushed him away and left the house, but after he left, Bittner sent her pictures he took of her while the woman slept on his couch.
Later, the woman found a video on her phone of her confronting Bittner and asking him why he drugged her. In the footage, he is seen telling her that he didn’t want him to drug her, to which he replied, “So why did you leave?”
The woman then purchased an over-the-counter drug test which revealed cocaine in her system, something she says she had “never intentionally ingested”.
Bittner told detectives that his encounter with the woman was not sexual and that he was “just nice” to her.
FIRST VICTIM
Another alleged victim, a 47-year-old woman, told investigators she was sexually abused and drugged by Bittner on Jan. 30, 2022, according to police reports.
The woman says she met the alleged rapist in April or May 2020 and considered him a friend, since she knew he was married.
But at some point he told her he had broken up, so they started dating because when he tried to have sex with her, the woman rejected his advances.
On the day of the alleged incident, Bittner asked the woman to come to his house to drink wine. When she arrived, he was smoking crack and taking cocaine, he immediately offered her ecstasy, according to police reports.
Although the woman said she refused the drugs if she accepted a glass of wine, some time later she began to feel drowsy because it seemed to her that the man had drugged her or had put something in his drink, the description of what happened continues – according to reports from the authorities.
It was then that Bittner allegedly sexually assaulted her as she attempted to have him arrested, but “due to her altered condition, which she claims is the result of being drugged, she does not ‘couldn’t defend himself,’ according to reports.
The woman was able to wrestle with him and he left his house. Bittner later told detectives the relationship was consensual and denied drugging the woman.
