The World’s Edge studio ensures that it is listening to fans and has not forgotten the existence of Age of Mythology.

If Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will still benefit from new content in the course of the year (DLC, co-op mode, new civilizations), the spin-off of the license inspired by mythology and legends from Greece, Egypt and the Nordic countries has not yet had the privilege of being entitled to a remastered edition. However, Microsoft had decided to reissue Age of Mythology on the Steam platform in 2014 before releasing the Tale of the Dragon expansion in 2016. While this is a better treatment than many strategy games of the 1990s and 2000s, over the past five years it hasn’t did not receive the same love from the American publisher as that for the main series.

Age of Mythology is still on the mind of World’s Edge

While the Xbox Game Studios affiliate is currently busy with Relic Entertainment on the development of Age of Empires IV as well as the follow-up to the two Definitive Editions of the Age of Empires trilogy, creative director Adam Isgreen has given hope to the Age of Mythology fans at a panel discussion during a press event: “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… I haven’t forgotten AoM. We talk about it all the time. Stay tuned. We haven’t forgotten it. I love AoM. I like mythology in general. We love the franchise. We’re not claiming it doesn’t exist or anything like that. We know it“. Senior executive producer Michael Mann took it up, saying: “Absolutely, we know that. We’re listening. We listen 100% to this request.

So beware, Adam Isgreen hasn’t officially committed to a sequel or new expansion, but the enthusiastic response from the developers suggests that a new Age of Mythology is not out of the realm of the possible as is a remaster that could see its development will begin after the launch of Age of Empires IV by the end of the year.
