Anthony Barril took to social media a few days ago after arriving by horse-drawn carriage at a McDonald’s in the city of Hialeah.
“Everything that belongs to me is about horses, since I was born,” Barril says, while proudly showing the photos from when he was 15 and where he can be seen on a horse.
“Since I opened my eyes, everything was: horses, horses, horses. I don’t know, it gives me an adrenaline rush,” says Barril, who arrived at a McDonald’s Hialeah with a friend while driving a small horse-drawn cart.
“We were in the street of a relative who was having a party for him and my cousin said to me: ‘let’s go to McDonald’s'”, says the horse enthusiast.
A customer recorded a video and of course it went viral. But it also generated comments that Anthony disagreed with.
“A lot of ugly things came out of that story, that he was an abuser, that he brought the ugly stuff here from Cuba,” recalls the young man who many even thought he had just arrived from the island. .
“But I was born here” in the United States, explains Anthony Barril who, at 17, is proud of his roots, his passion for these animals and what he does for them.
“I buy a lot of horses because they are very thin. People don’t feed them so I buy them,” admits the young man who gives animals new hope for life.
Caramelo is one of the horses saved by Anthony Barril, and he has nothing to do with the one that fell into his hands a few months ago.
The young man says he is happy when other people can ride his horses too, he looks after them after school and ensures that they are spoiled. There is no doubt about it.
Anthony Barril says that when he finds a new animal, the first thing he does “is deworm them, (give them) their grass, their food, they are always guaranteed, and I give them vitamin serums” .
In the little free time he has left, Anthony Barril is part of a team called Team Cachirulo and where they all share the same passion.
To the question: what is your dream? The young man admits that he “wants to have a ranch, full of horses, as much as is appropriate”.
