A Cuban was caught red-handed when trying to carry out a bicycle robbery in Doral. According to Rey Valdés, the Doral Police spokesman, the citizen identified as Handry Placeres had with him all the tools to carry out his misdeeds.

Placeres was dedicated to the theft of expensive bicycles using a shear to cut the chains with which the owners protected their parked vehicles. The malefactor did not expect any specific schedule, even when he was caught it was in broad daylight.

“They are bicycles that have prices of thousands of dollars,” said Valdés about the robber’s objective. “He had all the tools to facilitate this type of crime. He had screwdrivers, different wrenches, a whole series of tools including for cutting iron and cable ”.

This is not the first time that Placeres has pending accounts with the justice, since in the past he has been arrested 6 times, in fact, in 2020 he spent time in prison for drug possession.

When the Cuban was detained, the officers noticed the presence of a shackle belonging to the US immigration service. It was later found that Placeres was being monitored by ICE as part of his criminal record.

Another similar arrest

On April 5, a 48-year-old Cuban man was arrested in Miami Beach for stealing bicycles in a South Beach parking lot.

According to the local media America TeVé, Josue Álvarez, was detained by Miami Beach police after it coincided with a photo provided by a witness.

At the time of his arrest, Álvarez denied all the facts, however, after being transferred to the Miami Beach police station, the Cuban made a full confession.

Cubans steal television cables

A gang made up of five Cubans was arrested by the Miami-Dade police when it was found that they were stealing the copper telephone cables that AT&T company installs to provide Internet and television service. They dressed in company uniforms and used trucks for robberies, according to Local10.

Police identified the thieves as Iván Pérez García, 55; Eric González Pando, 24; Francisco Alberto Gutiérrez, 50; and Ermes González Pando, 43.
