A 5-year-old boy drowned this weekend after the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Tamarac Fire Department located him in a body of water.
Shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday, a small child was reported missing in the area near 60 Ann Lee Road in Tamarac.
Broward Sheriff’s Office and Tamarac Fire Rescue officers responded to the scene and found the boy in a waterway very close to where he had gone missing.
Deputies pulled the boy from the water and immediately began rescue measures, but an air unit from the Broward Sheriff’s Office who also responded to the scene transported him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead .
Broward Homicide and Crime Scene Units are investigating what happened but have so far released no details about the identity of the child or what led to the outcome of this incident.
