Forspoken offers an open world that you can roam freely. It received a sequel, Heart of the Alien, centered around the aforementioned Alien. 1998 saw the release of another great project by Éric Chahi: a cinematic platform game called Heart of Darkness.

As Cutter Slade, a former Navy SEAL, you must travel to this new dimension, a world known as Adelpha, and protect a team of scientists tasked with solving the problem. But once there, the mission gets complicated and you have to save both worlds. Awesome!

Outcast: Second Contact is a remake of the 1999 classic. The original was the first open-world action-adventure game. As the aforementioned character, Cutter Slade, you can explore the beautiful world of Adelpha, interact with the locals, a village known as talan, and complete various quests that involve collecting items, fighting soldiers and enemy beasts, explore different lands and solve puzzles. . It’s a complex, content-rich game, but there are some special features you can enable that will make Outcast a little less overwhelming, at least initially.

It’s a phenomenal track with a fantastic atmosphere and a wonderful score by Lennie Moore. If you want the OG version, you can get Outcast 1.1, the one from 1999, but with some updates that make the title run better on modern computers.

The voice cast is impressive, with stars like Jack Black, Tim Curry, the late Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, Lita Ford and even Ozzy Osbourne. The gameplay is far from typical, as Brütal Legend is a mix of genres. It’s an open-world action game at its core, but it combines elements of real-time strategy, rhythm minigames, and racing. Expect a bit of everything: melee combat, spell casting via guitars, arena battles with RTS mechanics, plus plenty of side quests on top of the quests that make up the main story. It’s an incredible mix, full of old school heavy metal and a good dose of dark humor. Needless to say, the soundtrack is unique. It’s an original score composed by Peter McConnell and 107 heavy metal songs by 75 bands, ranging from classics to fairly obscure songs.

Tim Schafer has once again shown that every time he works on a video game, it will be strange and unlike any other. Brütal Legend was well received by critics and the gaming community.
