To commemorate the date, the #YouthLead Innovation Festival will be held, a youth-led celebration of innovative solutions that will take place today and tomorrow.
On the occasion of the commemoration of International Youth Day, celebrated annually on August 12, the #YouthLead Innovation Festival will take place between today and tomorrow .
The #YouthLead Innovation Festival is a celebration of youth-led innovative solutions, with the purpose of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and recovering from the covid-19 pandemic.
The gathering brings together young innovators and solution creators together with United Nations offices, legislators and industry leaders , with the aim of propelling the world towards a solution- oriented world through youth-led innovation.
This space offers an opportunity for multi-stakeholder dialogue and collaboration for the use of innovation and technology to achieve the SDGs and support the covid-19 recovery agenda. On the other hand, the festival will also open a space to vulnerable and marginalized communities that despite the growth of technology and innovation are lagging behind.
The International Youth Day was established by the United Nations, in December 1999, the General Assembly proclaimed August 12 as the date for the celebration.
The objective of the celebration is to promote the participation of young people in all areas of society, in order to solve the challenges they face on a daily basis.
For example, according to data from the International Labor Organization (ILO), one in six young people is without work due to the crisis caused by the pandemic .
For this year, International Youth Day 2021, “Transforming food systems : Youth innovation for the health of humans and the planet”, highlights the success of this global effort that will not be achieved without the significant participation of the youths.
