Harsh criticism from a member of the Frente de Todos to Alberto Fernández: “He does not have a plan and that is not right”

Gabriel mariotto

Fire friend. President Alberto Fernández was questioned by Gabriel mariotto, a member of the Frente de Todos who knew how to integrate the leadership of political power during the governments of Cristina Kirchner. The former deputy governor of the province of Buenos Aires from the Daniel Scioli administration pointed out against the head of state because his ideas and those of other referents who helped build the governing coalition are not heard in the areas of internal discussion.

In dialogue with the journalist Roberto Navarro in the uncovering, Mariotto stated that the country is going through an “alarming and ugly” situation that “requires a shock of social justice”. However – he questioned – the Government because it still does not have an action plan despite having already served more than a year in power.

“When I hear Alberto Fernández say that he doesn’t have a plan or that he doesn’t trust plans, this is not right. The plan is an idea, a carrot away, a light of hope to walk together towards that plan. It worries me when there is no political discussion, when there is no scope for debate, when we have been in government for a year and there is no political front ”, he analyzed.

Mariotto, in 2018. He went to Comodoro Py to support Cristina Kirchner in one of her investigations as a defendant. In the photo he is seen with Luis D'Elía, Axel Kicillof, Hugo Yasky and the late Horacio Fontova (Adrián Escandar)

The leader, who knew how to integrate Cristina Kirchner’s circle of trust as executive director of the Federal Authority for Audiovisual Communication Services (AFSCA), believes that this program should lay the foundations for governing management ideas on issues such as foreign debt, foreign trade, banking, public services and media regulation. “All this should be discussed without imposing anything, without anyone feeling upset because their ideas cannot be applied, but they must be expressed,” he emphasized.

If we talk about foreign trade, surely the Vicentín topic appears. First there are the Argentines and then the exportable balances as an old concept of Peronism. That discussion must be given, but without a plan and without a program, everything becomes more empty”, He exemplified.

Mariotto clarified that he is not asking for positions in the public administration. What he intends is to discuss with other actors of the Frente de Todos whom he recognizes as peers despite ideological differences. “We want to discuss with Sergio Massa’s Renewing Front, which is an important member of the front with whom we have some differences, but we recognize him and we want to listen to him to build a program together,” he reflected.

The former deputy governor, together with Alberto Rodríguez Saá, Milagro Sala, Alessandra Minnicelli and other leaders, integrates an internal line that intends to dispute the leadership of the Peronist party. He understands that it is difficult for them to win the elections, but at least he wants to debate and listen to other ideas on the ruling front. “Nobody wants to criticize with the idea of eroding, wearing down or passing the coarse sandpaper to the Government. They are absolutely honest looks about what the government thinks and I don’t like it. It seems to me that this needs more debate and more breadth, ”he said.

“The same thing happens in the province of Buenos Aires, where Máximo Kirchner says ‘run away all I’m going.’ We have the best with Máximo, but nobody thinks about the rank and file militancy ”, he launched.

One of the issues that they intend to include in the public debate is the situation of former detained officials whom they describe as “political prisoners”. Mariotto was one of the promoters of the mobilization that demanded a “Christmas without political prisoners” at the end of last year.

They also speak out against the decisions taken regarding the payment of foreign debt. They say it must be audited first. And they even question the new retirement mobility formula because they recognize that it means lower income for grandparents compared to the calculation that governed before the reform.

The most outstanding phrases of Roberto Navarro’s interview with Gabriel Mariotto

“We are in an alarming, ugly, serious situation that requires shock measures. We need a social justice shock and for that we must have a program, a plan, which the Frente de Todos does not yet have.

“When the Front was assembled, we all activated the axes of unity and luckily we were able to win. Today we have a government with Alberto Fernández as president and Cristina Kirchner as vice president, but there is no plan ”.

“A program was never built, a program was never discussed. And in that sure program there are topics such as foreign debt, foreign trade, banking, public services, regulation of audiovisual media … and all that must be discussed without imposing anything, without making anyone feel upset because their ideas cannot be applied, but they must be expressed ”.

“If we talk about foreign trade, surely the Vicentín issue appears. First there are the Argentines and then the exportable balances, as an old concept of Peronism. That discussion must be given, but without a plan and without a program, everything becomes more empty ”.

“When a political space is voted with a program, that program is validated by the society that voted for it. When there is no program, a cute little word is used that is a trap: governance. Governance is what is possible, what the sectors of power allow to do. Now, when you have a program backed by the people, it immediately kicks in. “

“We need the Frente de Todos to sit at a table with social movements, workers’ centrals, political sectors, governors, youth, retirees, women, La Cámpora and the other small parties that participate in the Front and do not call us.”

“Nobody asks for charges, we want to discuss the foreign debt, the judicial reform, the audiovisual media. We want to discuss with Sergio Massa’s Renewing Front, which is an important member of the front with whom we have some differences, but we recognize him and want to listen to him to build a program together ”.

“When I hear Alberto Fernández say that he doesn’t have a plan or that he doesn’t trust plans, this is not right. The plan is an idea, a carrot away, a light of hope so that we can all walk towards that plan ”. It worries me when there is no political discussion, when there is no scope for debate after a year of debate ”.

“I want us to talk about political prisoners. It is another of the axes that we have to discuss in our program ”.

“Nobody wants to criticize with the idea of eroding, wearing down or passing the coarse sandpaper to the Government. They are absolutely honest looks about what the government thinks and I don’t like it. It seems to me that this needs more debate and more amplitude ”.

“We present a list for the presidency of the PJ for a debate. Nobody says that we are going to win, we are colleagues who are founding an internal sector with colleagues who are not even affiliated. But they don’t want to give us elections and they speak of a single list instead of a unit list. Lor the same thing happens in the province where Máximo Kirchner says ‘run away all I’m going’ … We have the best with Máximo and La Cámpora, but nobody thinks about the rank and file militancy”.

“The compañeras who carry water in Añatuya to the neighborhoods find out five days after they close how the lists were formed. I imagine that if they want to win in Santiago del Estero someone is going to remember these teammates ”.

“If there is no program, we have to attend undaunted to some definitions that are the antipodes of our thinking.”

“Without a program or rules of the game, there is no possible political front. There is only one electoral conjuncture to frighten macroism, rational because they have led the country to the abyss in four years … That electoral front has to be transformed into a political front ”.

“We are not with the payment of the foreign debt. We understand that it is an odious debt as various intellectuals of the world say. Before paying it, you have to audit it. We do not agree with what they did, but we are not slamming the door because we want an area where we can discuss and argue against us ”. “But when they take us as boys to school we don’t like it.”

“We don’t like retirees making less. We go with two formulas and the one that gives the most is activated. We know that inflation is going to be stronger than growth, we cannot applaud that now the formula is for growth when inflation is going to be higher … As long as that is happening, then we must continue paying the older ones ” .
