Forget your flashy gameplay demos – fans of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are crazy about cheese.
Over the past weekend, the upcoming Tears of the Kingdom art book leaked online, revealing some unannounced details and spoilers for the new game. A slightly less title-worthy point of note in the new artbook, as you can see via the Reddit post below, is that cheese is apparently a thing in the new Zelda game.
It is precisely “Hateno Cheese”, as the legend of the Japanese art book says. Perhaps instead of pieces of the iconic Triforce, Tears of the Kingdom will see Link crossing Hyrule to collect three triangles of cheese, representing courage, power, and wisdom.
The Zelda fandom is oddly excited about the prospect of cheese in Tears of the Kingdom. While some are just praising the article, others are thinking of finer details, with one Reddit user hoping for “a way to have an intact wheel of cheese that can be dropped whole and rolled downhill.” God knows how Breath of the Wild cheat players could incorporate this.
“100 metacritical notes incoming,” wrote another Reddit user. “Spoiler alert: the cheese in the game will also have ‘durability’…if Link eats it when it’s gone, it’s better, he’ll lose his heart,” says another creative Tears of the Kingdom fan. We wonder if Hateno Cheese might even switch to Blue Cheese if Link keeps it in his bag too long.
Given the leaked artbook, however, you’ll have to be careful online if you’re looking to avoid details that aren’t as granular as cheese in Tears of the Kingdom. Big plot points are leaking online thanks to the artbook, and there’s a while to go before Tears of the Kingdom launches later this year on May 12.
