The XIII Remake got off to a horrible start to 2020, Metacritic calling it the worst Xbox game of the year, prompting publisher Microids to promise to fix the game with the help of French developer Tower Five.
Well today is the day! After a year of working on the update, it is now available for free on Xbox One, and the game has also released for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S with the new features. This is what you can expect:
Microids says that Tower Five has “reworked the entire game from the art direction to the AI and added numerous technical improvements”, along with the “highly anticipated online multiplayer for up to 13 players”.
“We really wanted to take the time to fix the game and offer XIII Remake owners a free update that would pay the best possible tribute to the original game we all love. We can’t wait for players to get their hands on this enhanced version of the game and (re)discover the classic adventures of Agent XIII…”
If you already own XIII Remake on Xbox One, you should find that the free upgrade and upgrade to Xbox Series X and Series S are available right now, and it looks like first impressions are pretty positive so far:
So far the xiii remake update is a vast improvement. Control feels much better and the graphics are a step up. Kinda odd that the first cutscene with the lifeguard still looks like the old game, but it's a minor quibble. Vibration isn't working for me on series X though
