Some of you might remember Xbox’s own Forza Horizon 5 controller: a super colorful pad that arrived around the game’s release in 2021. Well, third-party accessory maker Thrustmaster has now produced its possess Xbox FH5 controller, and it has a unique feature.

Thrustmaster’s effort might not be as shiny and cheeky as Microsoft’s pad, but the company has integrated a “racing wheel module” into the package, which can be replaced by the analog stick or the d -pad. Looks like this module is meant to be closer to the feel of a racing wheel than a typical stick. Here’s how the team describes the feature:

“With the (racing wheel) With the module centering system and its 95° angle of rotation, you will experience a whole new immersion, with incredible control of your turns and drifts.”

It’s true that the description is a bit vague, but no It shows well at least, with the Forza Motorsport logo splattered front and center of the racing wheel module. We’re intrigued to see how this thing performs in the hands of racing fans, and if they think it comes close to a one-wheel setup.

Truth be told, you’ll need to do more than look good. Thrustmaster is asking $200 for its Forza Horizon 5 controller, but if you can get a little closer to the experience of a racing wheel, it might be worth it! It’s a variation of the company’s existing “ESWAP XR PRO CONTROLLER”, and here’s a bit more about it:

“Live an incredibly immersive racing experience with the gamepad, thanks to the new RACING WHEEL MODULE. Master your trajectories and deviations, and stay in control on any type of terrain thanks to the 95° rotation angle of the module and to its non-slip surface.

“Hot-Swap technology allows you to swap modules at any time, adapting the controller to your game, and not the other way around. ESWAP XR PRO CONTROLLER FORZA HORIZON 5 EDITION includes RACING WHEEL MODULE, two mini-sticks and a D-pad. Change modules in an instant, for the configuration that suits you best at any time!”

“Combining improved precision with an extended lifespan of 2 million activations, the new generation S5 NXG mini-sticks and RACING WHEEL MODULE represent an excellent balance between steering precision, control of your trajectories and general immersion”.

“You’ll love the highly responsive clicks provided by the mechanical buttons, which are 64% faster than standard membrane buttons (tested under lab conditions). Say goodbye to sluggish response times in games – with the trigger distance reduced to 0.01 inch / 0.3 mm, you’ll be able to react quickly and take control of your runs!”

“Adjust the sensitivity and other settings of the mini-sticks, the RACING WHEEL MODULE and the triggers with the ThrustmapperX software. When the RACING WHEEL MODULE is inserted, the D-pad inputs are automatically assigned to the rear buttons (1, 2, 3, 4)! ThrustmapperX is available for Windows and accessible directly via the settings menu! Xbox!”
