The wait is finally over. In about two weeks we can look forward to the new big Content patch 9.1 for WoW Shadowlands – at least on the official test server (Public Test Realm). The Blizzard Community Manager Bornakk announced in the official WoW forum:
“Now that we’ve left Patch 9.0.5 behind, we’d like to take a moment to update you with the latest information on Patch 9.1 for Shadowland. In about two weeks we’ll bring the chains of domination for you on our test server (PTR).”
All information about raid testing will follow about a week after the PTR is online.
“There will be a slew of new content for Chains of Command, so your trial and error will continue to play an important role in the process of developing this update. We can’t wait to present the new patch to you and look forward to your feedback.”
Let’s summarize all the key data again:
- Circa 14. April: Patch 9.1 will be applied to the official test server.
- About April 21: There should be information about raid testing. It is uncertain whether you will then be able to play the new raid.
The Release of Patch 9.1 has not yet been announced on the live servers. In the past, the first major content patch was released for the live server about one to three months after it appeared on the PTR.
That would mean we could expect a release between the end of May and the end of June. However, given the delays and circumstances so far, a later date seems more likely, because there are many hopes and doubts on the update.

Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination is the first major content update for the latest World of Warcraft expansion, Shadowlands. The following new content is planned and presented at Blizzcon 2021:

- New territory in the throat
- new raid
- Mythischer Mega-Dungeon
- New wing for Torghast
- Flying is unlocked in the Shadowlands
- New levels of fame, mounts and cosmetic items
We spoke to the developers in the course of the presentation of Update 9.1 and created a large overview with all the details about the new features.
