In Valheim you can now discover the home of the Lich King.

It wasn’t that long ago that PC gamers were sent to Northrend. The icy continent in the far north of the Warcraft world is the home of the Lich King and played a central role in the add-on Wrath of the Lich King. Most recently, in the pre-patch for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, players were sent to the wintery areas around the Icecrown Citadel to kill bosses for an event.

Apparently, some WoW fans can’t get enough of the mostly frozen continent: A player has now released a mod for the survival game Valheim, which lets you explore Nordend with your Viking hero.

Mod lets you explore Northrend

What does the mod offer? The modder Drakonman The Fox has largely transferred the landscape from Nordend to Valheim. Sights such as the fortress of the Lich King, dungeons or the flying city of Dalaran are currently missing, but the biomes have been adapted almost exactly to the areas of the WoW expansion. But see for yourself:

As in WOTLK, players start in the Howling Fjord before battling their way through the grizzly hills to the icy areas of Dragon Blight, Storm Peaks and Icecrown. For better playability, the mod adjusts the spawn points of locations like burial chambers and sunken crypts. These now appear outside of their original biomes, as they contain items that are important for game progress.

Where can I download the mod? You can find the download on Nexusmods. However, you must first install the Mod Better Continents, which you can also find on Nexusmods.

Then you just have to extract the contents of the zip file to “C: Users EuerBusername AppData LocalLow IronGate Valheim worlds”. After that, the Northrend map should appear on your worlds the next time you start the game.

There you will find other replicas from World of Warcraft, but also from other well-known franchises such as Star Wars, The Elder Scrolls or Lord of the Rings.
