Recently WarnerMedia and Discovery merged after several months since the plans for this new alliance were announced. However, the transition was not the best, without causing a lot of uncertainty around its services HBO Max, Discovery + and even the future of film productions after the cancellation of the Batgirl movie. Naturally, this situation caused speculation about possible implications of the movement in MultiVersus and the main leader of the project spoke about it.

In the midst of the Batgirl live-action film cancellation scandal, MultiVersus fans feared that part of WarnerMedia and Discovery’s plans would impact the fighting title in some way, as characters from several Warner franchises are involved. Bros., like DC Comics (related to Batgirl).

What will happen to MultiVersus after Warner merges with Discovery?

The good news is that there seems to be nothing to worry about. We say this because Tony Huynh, co-founder of Player First Games and director of MultiVersus, took advantage of his Twitter account to address the issue and clarify the doubts of the fans.

In a short message, the creative made it clear that the merger between the two companies will not affect them.

It’s important to note that Player First Games is an independent development studio made up of creative veterans whose only tie to Warner Bros. Interactive is the partnership to work on MultiVersus.

That said, the future of Player First Games and to a certain extent that of the game would depend on the studio (which is not part of WB Games), but in the end the entity that has the last word on the project is Warner Bros., owner of the rights of the franchises that appear in the game, so at any time you can cancel the project if you wish, although the truth is that the latter would not make sense.

The story of MultiVersus is just beginning and it is already a success, so it is normal to think that there will be many years of content and support. In fact, everything that will include the first season has already been announced.
