The free trial of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play for wild hearts went live on the Xbox Store yesterday ahead of the game’s full release on February 16, and for the most part it looks like people are having a blast so far!
We’ve seen a lot of positivity around the gameplay on social media, and quite a few reviewers have also complimented the title over the past 24 hours (our full review is coming later this week!).
I’ve been playing Wild Hearts for a while now. Love that. Fun monster hunter overall, but it clicked for me when I realized you basically have a Green Lantern-like ability to conjure hammers and giant walls to block enemies. Barely scratched the surface, can’t wait to go back. pic.twitter.com/syBcUN5kcu— Greg Miller (@GameOverGreggy) February 13, 2023
So what about all the negativity surrounding the Xbox Series S version? In some cases, because the game is not very well optimized by the Microsoft mini console, only one mode of graphics that is played in a resolution of alrededor of 900p-1080p and 30 tiles per segment, with enough boxes of tiles From time to time.
And then there are the images, sometimes quite crude, to say the least:
The game is fun enough so far, but Wild Hearts is tough as hell on Series S here. Status of this! pic.twitter.com/aH2UB9aLBY—Andi Hamilton (@andihero) February 14, 2023
It’s worth noting that footage of Wild Hearts on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 has also been the subject of criticism on social media, but it looks like the Series S version in particular should take priority for now.
Luckily, if you can see past the visual and performance drawbacks of Wild Hearts on Xbox Series S, I hope you find it’s still a great fun experience, and don’t forget you can try 10 hours of play for free if you subscribe to Xbox Pass Ultimate and/or EA Play, so you can judge the quality for yourself!
