Players weren’t introduced to Lorath Nahr until Diablo III’s Reaper of Souls expansion. Lorath Nahr is Horadrim’s hooded young acolyte who leads you to the cursed city besieged by Malthael. Unlike the wise old Horadrim you’ve met in many games before, Lorath is just a young man. He doesn’t know much in the world and is surprised, dazzled, and horrified by the things you see on your adventure. However, he is still a skilled wizard and scholar, helping you unlock Adria’s clairvoyance and protect the survivors of Westmarch. Ultimately, he plays a pivotal role in the hunt for the Angel of Death.

Lorath Nahr’s role in Diablo IV
After the events of Diablo III, Lorath became a leading member of the renewed Horadric Order. Lorath’s greatest achievement as a member of Horadrim was compiling a tome describing all of Sanctuary’s most powerful relics and their stories. Yet despite the hard work of Tyrael and Lorath, Horadrim’s numbers have dwindled hopelessly over the decades. When you meet Lorath Nahr in Diablo IV, he’s nothing more than a lonely old hermit in a hut, and one of the few remaining Horadrim members in the entire world of Sanctuary.

Next to you, Lorath Nahr acts as a sort of Deckard Cain-esque character. With the death of Deckard Cain in Diablo III, he now assumes this role of scholar and expert, helping to guide the hero to victory against Lilith, mother of Prime Evils.
