There are eight playable characters, each with their own story, in octopathic traveler 2, which is a huge sum. It could also be intimidating. What do you do with each of them? Where to start ? Especially since once you’ve chosen one, it’s not like opening a menu and selecting another. Well, here are some suggestions to keep in mind when considering what octopathic traveler 2 the character story you should start your journey with or the order you should follow.
Which Octopath Traveler 2 character story should I choose to start with? Option 1: Follow the Octopath
If you look at the first letter of each octopathic traveler 2 the character’s name, they spell “Octopath” in order. So…go ahead! In this case, Ochette would be the first “O”. Which works well, because its monster-catching abilities and usage mean you can capitalize on all sorts of weaknesses. Then you go to Castti, the apothecary who could act as a support and a healer. I would then suggest Throne, so you have a thief to help you get items and deal more damage. Osvald brings you constant magic with his academic skills. Partitio, Agnea, Temenos and Hikari would follow. It’s a surprisingly strong and safe approach!
Which Octopath Traveler 2 Character Story Should I Pick to Start Option 2: Osvald
If you’re looking for a heavier story, going with Osvald isn’t a bad choice for your first character. You will go through its first and second chapters one after the other, which will really help you understand its fate. It’s also one of the most interesting, as you wonder what happened to him and his family, and if everything can somehow be fixed.
The downside is that it might be a little more difficult than other approaches! As a scholar, Osvald focuses on magic attacks. So you’re really leaning towards SP. His only weapon is a staff, although you can eventually take advantage of it with side work. So after recruiting him, immediately go find Hikari, Ochette or Throne to help him.
Which Octopath Traveler 2 Character Story Should I Pick to Start Option 2: Throne
Good. There are three reasons why Throne is perfect for your first octopathic traveler 2 character.
First of all, she’s the thief. This means a world of free items awaits with its ability to rob NPCs in towns and enemies in battles. It’s a big help when you’re just starting out and don’t have a lot of leaves, money in the game.
Secondly, she is very good at taking on hordes of enemies on her own! Her Dark Blessing automatically adds a buff to her attack and speed and to all her allies during nighttime battles. His Leave No Trace latent power is a limit that allows him to perform a second action immediately after the first.
Third, Throne’s story is pretty cool. It’s a dark story of a woman desperately trying to find freedom and live her life on her own terms, which is thrilling. However, he is also an interesting and compassionate person who has survived terrible things and always ends up doing good. At the same time, she has an advantage, which appears in her Crossed Paths story with Temenos.
Finally, Throne is in an ideal position to almost immediately recruit three of the other incredibly useful members of the group. It’s just south of Temenos’ starting point, Flamechurch, and a healer is just what you need. Although, to be fair, his thief skill might keep him alive. You can then add Osvald and Ochette to your party soon after, to add more damage and magic attacks.
