Before you can start tuna fishing, you need to get two things: the Premium Bait and the Peerless Pole Fishing Rod. Premium bait is used for fish with a high rarity level and can be purchased from the bait vendor located on the east side of Shijo Street in Rakunai for 5000 Mon. Alternatively, you can buy it from the Ebisu Pawn Shop in Rakunai. As for the Peerless Pole, it is the best fishing rod in the game because it has the longest casting distance with a fast response time. You can get it for 4,000 virtues from the shrine. If you are short on money and virtue, we suggest you take part in Chicken Racing.
After acquiring both items, travel to the east coast and start looking for a large shadow. The tuna is going to be one of two big shadows in the water, the other being the great white shark. Once you see it, waste no time casting your line. Be sure to save your game before you start fishing, because you don’t want to waste your premium bait on the wrong fish. Keep fishing until you get tuna.
