As you can see from the title, Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp is a remake of the first two Advance Wars games on Game Boy Advance. The remake ran into some unfortunate real-world timing that forced it to push back its initial release, and fans began to wonder if the game would ever see the light of day. Luckily, after a long hiatus with no new information, Nintendo was able to please fans with new details about the remake.

Reboot Camp was originally slated for a December 3 release on Nintendo Switch, but was pushed back to Spring 2022. Shortly after, an April 8 Fall 2021 release date leaked. Nintendo made the official announcement in a February 2022 direct.

Unfortunately, Nintendo decided to delay Reboot Camp in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Nintendo probably felt that releasing a game about tanks and war would be off-putting when literal tanks are used to attack civilians in Ukraine. Nintendo hasn’t offered a new release date for Reboot Camp, and fans have begun to wonder if the new version will ever see the light of day as the war in Ukraine continues.

Nintendo finally gave fans a new release date for Reboot Camp during the February 2023 Live, revealing that the game will now release on April 21.

Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp will include the Advance Wars and Advance Wars: Black Hole Rising campaigns. Players can choose from a variety of commanders as they battle across the game’s maps. Each officer has their own special ability: Andy can repair units, while Sami can boost their abilities, for example. Reboot Camp also includes a multiplayer mode, allowing up to four players to command rival armies on a single map. And yes, Commander powers also come into play here. Between multiplayer and campaign, fans can expect a lot of strategy.
