A recent video shows what redo of Resident Evil 3 if he had gone out at the time of the PS1giving the modern game the style of its retro predecessors.
Going back in time in modern titles is pretty common these days, especially when it comes to horror games. A recent example of a “demake” is one that envisioned the original Resident Evil as a 16-bit Genesis game, giving Capcom’s iconic survival title a more early ’90s isometric look.
With the success of Resident Evil remakes, including RE2 in 2019, the developer is moving forward with its flagship series, not only with reimaginings of previous installments, but with all-new installments as well.
At its core, the RE franchise is alive and well, which is good news considering the tough time it had around games 5 and 6. However, no matter how advanced the new installments are in terms of visuals and playable modernity, there are those who want to know how things would have been had they been released decades ago.
Now, a recent video, from the Rustic Games BR YouTube channel, gives an idea of what the Resident Evil 3 2020 remake would have looked like if it had been released on the original PlayStation console. It shows the intro sequence where Jill Valentine wakes up in her apartment, but there is a slight difference in how the scene plays out compared to the official remake.
This video does not represent any game currently in development, it is rather a concept. However, many veteran gamers don’t need to use their imagination too much to dream up a retro RE3, as the third original game was released in 1999 for PS1.
