So you play the survival hit Valheim in first person view
What exactly does the mod do? “First Person View” allows you in Valheim to zoom into the first person perspective. In this way you experience the survival game like a typical first-person shooter. So you can only see your legs and hands and which weapon you are currently using.

How does it play? Of course, Valheim feels different from the first person view. But why Gamestar author Andreas Bertits makes it so much more fun and, in his opinion, it is worthwhile, he best explains to you from the “first-person perspective”.
It’s simple: I’m not a big fan of the third-person view. I don’t always want to look at the bottom of my character or see the cool armor in which he walks through the landscape. So when I heard about the Valheim Mod “First Person View”, I had to try it out immediately.
When I zoomed into the ego view for the first time in the game, I was still surprised at how well Valheim played with it. Exploring the world like this is really fun. It’s a completely different feeling to run through forests and meadows, it’s much more immersive.
The discovery of items that are on the floor is easier and faster because the character is not in the way and blocks the view. From the first person perspective, enemies appear much more threatening, fights more intense. Building is also easier for me, as individual elements such as walls and floors can be placed more precisely.
What are the cons of the Mod? Unfortunately, fights don’t work that well with the mod: It feels a bit more difficult to hit opponents. Bows block a large part of the field of view and it is not possible to aim up or down. Perhaps mod developer kailen37 will improve this.
Arcs obscure much of the view from the first person perspective. Here the mod still has to be optimized.
So you install the modification: It’s very easy and quick to download and install the mod. Only a few steps are necessary:
- First of all, download the BepInExPack from the website
- Extract the file in the directory of your choice
- Now you have to copy the contents of the BepInExPack_Valheim directory to ” steamapps common Valheim”.
- Then download the “First Person View” mod via Nexusmods
- Unpack the mod and then copy the CameraMod.dll file into the Valheim plugins folder: “steamapps common Valheim BepInEx plugins “
- Now you start Valheim and zoom in until you are in the ego view
If you want to adjust the Field of View (FOV) or the size of the screen texts, change the corresponding entries in the CameraMod.Kailen_.cfg file with a text editor. You can find this file in the directory » steamapps common Valheim BepInEx config «.
