Like everyone else, Ubisoft presented its financial results for the last quarter of 2020. In other words, management and shareholders must be smiling, since the company is setting a new record.

The company chaired by Yves Guillemot ad indeed have achieved a turnover of 1.7 billion euros in three months, which represents an increase of 60% compared to the last quarter of 2019. Encouraged by these results, Ubisoft anticipates annual turnover of 2.2 billion euros and operational profits of between 450 and 500 million. Results which can in particular be explained by the immediate presence of the publisher on PS5 and Xbox Series, even if the latter are difficult to find, and for good sales of the most recent titles on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

These games are none other than Immortals Fenyx Rising, Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, knowing that the latter is the opus that generated the most money of the entire license. Ubisoft also notes the growth and good health of many titles, including Brawlhalla, Mario + The Raving Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, Anno 1800 and Rainbow Six Siege, which moreover claims 70 million registered players. Yves Guillemot takes the opportunity to declare:

Our strategy continues to bear fruit. By far, we had the biggest quarter in Ubisoft’s history thanks to the quality of our launches and the depth of our catalog. We are incredibly proud of our teams who, in an extremely difficult environment, launched four titles on numerous platforms, while continuing to feed our Live services. Through this unparalleled achievement, they have demonstrated remarkable resilience and quality of adaptation. Our back-catalog, with high profitability, is thus led to represent an ever-increasing part of our activity.

Frédérick Duguet, Chief Financial Officer, adds:

The quarter was marked by the success of Just Dance 2021 and the excellent critical reception from Immortal Fenyx Rising and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The latter recorded record revenues and ranked, along with Watch Dogs Legion, among the top 4 best sellers on the new generation of consoles. The very strong performance of our back-catalog is also remarkable. We are also taking full advantage of the enormous success of the Switch and our position as the leading third-party publisher on the platform with, among other things, our game catalog Just Dance and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
