Ubisoft is applying a new corporate restructuring model across Europe and, as part of this measure, the French publisher has announced that will close branches sites in Italy, Poland, SpainHolland and the Nordic countries.
As reported by Wire Service Canada, the decision comes as Ubisoft seeks to revamp “its European commercial subsidiaries to better prepare them for the future of our rapidly changing industry with a more agile and efficient approach.”
According to the report, 60 people will lose their jobssince Ubisoft will have three regional centers across the continent: one for Northern Europe, one for Central Europe and one for the South.
As for Ubisoft’s development studios in the countries affected by these closures, nothing has been said about how this change will affect them.
A sad day for industry workers, as we also echoed EA’s decision to lay off over 750 of its global workers, or 6% of its workforce.
