Twitch Streamer triggers a storm after “Lesbian Joke”

TommyInnit

The Minecraft Streamer has catapulted himself to the top on Twitch and YouTube in the last few months! His YouTube videos for the Mojang classic regularly reach double-digit viewers, and his YouTube channel already has ten million subscribers. Twitch is doing just as well. Tommy has six million followers on the streaming platform and his streams reach between 100,000 and 250,000 viewers.

Controversy

But now he is causing a stir with rather negative headlines. During one of his Minecraft streams, the 17-year-old received a donation in which he was described as an “honorary lesbian” by the donor. While TommyInnit publicly sided with the LGBTQ community in the past few weeks, he replied to the donation and wondered whether the term applied to him:

Is that me? I just do not know. I don’t know if I am a lesbian. I know there will be time to find out all of this, but I don’t know if I could be a lesbian. Whether I am entitled to do so. I hope so!” It was said in his stream in response to the donation, in which he was referred to as an “Honorary Lesbian”.

Some Reddit users apparently found this comment angry. Some asked the Minecraft streamer to stop joking about lesbians immediately because they were having a hard time in the online and Minecraft community.

Reactions

There was then a lot of criticism of the 17-year-old streamer and negative comments increased. While some can understand it, others consider it completely excessive. The 26-year-old Twitch colleague Mizkif, for example, cannot understand the excitement and takes the young, popular streamer under protection:

“That’s all? Are you serious? That’s ridiculous. How can he get in so much trouble for that? What should the boy do anyway. He can’t do anything. He can’t have fun anymore if he has the chance to be canceled as soon as he says something.” The 26-year-old explained in his Twitch Stream. how do you see it?
