A new racing game will put Switch owners in the “seat” of the best driver. Gekisou! Benza Race – Estrella fugaz de baño– (Full steam ahead! Race Toilet Seat -Toilet Shooting Star-) is coming to the platform in Japan on March 16, 2023. The game was originally released for PC in 2019. (Thanks, Family!)
Gekisou! Benza Race -Shooting Star Bathroom- is a go-kart style racing game where all racers drive while sitting on a toilet. It is reportedly endorsed by the Japan Toilet Seat Racing Association, although this is a fictional organization created to promote the game. Racers can interfere with each other and gain an advantage by throwing toilet paper, bouncers toilets, underwear (used and spare) and other items such as weapons. They will also be able to eat meals and rice balls while seated to build up and “release” energy for rapid acceleration. Each character has a super move called “Ben’i Burst”, better translated as “Turtling Burst” which has unique effects.
Players will also be able to unlock new Carrera Benz Course through the story and mission progression. Earnings will accrue points needed to purchase upgraded parts, new toilet seat covers, and cosmetic customizations.
The game supports two player versus, as well as a semi-random mode that alters the gastric state of each contestant to introduce some randomness even between the same characters.
Gekisou! Benza Race -Shooting Star Bathroom- will launch on the Japanese Nintendo Switch eShop on March 16, 2023. There, it will cost 1,800 yen (about $13), not including a 20% pre-launch discount. It is also available for PC via Steam in Japan.
