Crypto markets saw another surge last week, with NFT collections also benefiting from strong increases in trading volumes. NFTs are coming to the Bitcoin network, more and more games are releasing alphas and betas, and you won’t want to miss the next NFT mints!
The big news in the NFT world last week was the launch of Ordinals on the Bitcoin network. Ordinal listings are a way to create NFTs on Bitcoin, something the network was not originally designed for. But, like Ethereum, Bitcoin Core is also seeing updates. And one of the latest, called Taproot, brings this capability to the ancestor of the blockchain.
One of the first collections, Ordinal Punks, already sells for over $100,000 each! Has this new implementation of technology sparked increased interest in NFTs? Maybe so, because we have definitely seen an increase in NFT trading over the past week.
When it comes to the gaming side of the blockchain, the alphas and betas just keep coming! Some of the latest releases include Chronos Open Beta, Nekoverse Closed Alpha, and Parallel Closed Alpha! And don’t forget the upcoming Seedworld staging and The Sandbox land sale!

Interestingly, although the markets have increased, the volume of active players has not increased. Have players expanded into other games as new alpha and beta versions are released? Or maybe they got distracted by NFT trading? Regardless, the games on the most active players list over the past week have remained the same.
In fact, there was no change in the order of the top six games on this list, although they were all affected in terms of active player count. Among the top 10, only the Meta Apes have seen their player count increase over the past week!

NFT markets, on the other hand, have seen all kinds of explosive growth, with many projects seeing their trading volume increase by more than 100%! The Bored Ape sequel loosens its grip on the top five positions and we see the return of an old face, the Moonbirds collection.
And Checks, which is nothing more than a collection of Twitter-style checkmarks, continues to create value through its burning mechanism. NFT check owners can burn multiples to upgrade to a new NFT check with fewer ticks! Therefore, each later version of Checks is increasingly rare.
