The Witcher multiplayer game, which benefits from the code name Project Sirius, has resumed its development from scratch: it is not ready to arrive…
As we know, after Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red was able to announce a large number of new game projects, including a new solo game The Witcher, but also a project entirely dedicated to multiplayer called Project Sirius. In 2022, CD Projekt allocated 7 million dollars to this project, then 2.2 million dollars from the beginning of 2023. However, the development of the title does not seem to be going as planned, since obviously a restart of development has been announced directly by the Polish company.
The Witcher / Project Sirius: A completely redesigned multiplayer game?
In a report published on March 20, CD Projekt takes a look at the infamous Project Sirius. The company was able to announce that it has completely redesigned the way it spends money on this decision-making project developed by The Molasses Flood Studio” on the results of the assessment of the potential commercial scale of the initial project“. The result is a total reboot of the game’s development, which could completely change direction. Announced last October, we knew Project Sirius would be a fully multiplayer game, but that’s all players knew. Action-RPG/MOBA/Battle Royale? Impossible to determine for the moment which direction this new title would take, but if we are to believe these recent statements, it is quite possible that the game will completely change direction, making speculation even more difficult.
Not to mention that this announcement is accompanied by an observation: from now on, it will be necessary to wait even longer before taking advantage of this new title. One thing is certain: multiplayer and CD Projekt, not yet a love story. We remember in particular the famous multimode initially planned for Cyberpunk 2077 and finally canceled. It remains to be seen whether the Polish firm will be able to break this little curse!
