Update 4.02 for The Witcher 3 was released yesterday. Unfortunately, the patch still did not fix many CD Projekt RED game issues.

Yesterday, CD Projekt RED surprised fans of the white-haired monster hunter with an unexpected update for The Witcher 3. The patch, marked 4.02 it was posted hours after it was first announced on Twitter. We wrote about the details of the patch in this news. Unfortunately, as suggested by players who have already successfully tested the title in the latest build, many of the issues that plagued the “next-gen” Wild Hunt still remain unresolved.

The subject of most of the negative comments to the latest update is DirectX 12 compatibility. Although improved use of the problematic API was included in the list of fixes introduced with the 4.02 patch, the internet was soon filled with voices of players disappointed with its performance. A Reddit user summed up his impressions with the following words:

“The DX12 version is still completely broken. I don’t see any difference after the patch. The DX11 version gives me 60fps, while DX12 delivers a completely unplayable 20-25fps at the same settings,” JiveTrain wrote.

Netizens also pointed out lack of improvement in efficient CPU usage:

“(…) Although the usage seems to be a bit better, it still focuses on 2 or 3 cores,” Towairatu wrote.

“No change in the use of my Ryzen 5 5600X, no change in performance,” reports cocomunges.

As minor bugs, players also mention the ubiquitous purple cobwebs, misrendered hair on Geralt, or jerky animations when autosaving the game.

While the developer’s commitment to polishing up a game released several years earlier by introducing new content and fixing existing issues is definitely a positive attitude, it’s hard to deny that CD Projekt RED still faces a number of performance challenges with the release of “next generation”. from The Witcher 3.
