The Resident Evil 4 Remake demo is great fun, but did you know there’s a third secret weapon to uncover in the survival horror game’s gameplay trailer? That’s right, along with Leon S Kennedy’s trusty pistol and shotgun found in a townhouse, there’s actually another favorite weapon from Capcom’s original 2005 game to use in this tantalizing Resident Evil sampler. 4 Remakes.
While the shotgun is undoubtedly phenomenally satisfying and the pistol is a reliable headshot machine that pairs well with Leon’s penchant for a vicious roundhouse kick, the RE4 demo’s secret weapon Remake might just be the most powerful of them all. It’s one that will also be instantly recognizable to those who played the original.
The weapon in question is the Resident Evil 4 Remake TMP, a “tactical submachine gun” that holds 50 rounds at a time and can quickly tear through your enemies. It’s also very easy to miss, as it requires you to make the rather counter-intuitive decision to throw away your starting gear to unlock it. We’ve listed the full unlock method below, if you’d like to try it yourself, and it’s incredibly satisfying, so I highly recommend giving it a go.
How to Unlock TMP in Resident Evil 4 Remake Chainsaw Demo
To unlock the TMP in the Resident Evil 4 Remake Chainsaw demo, you need to throw everything in your inventory before going through the village gates. After that, crouch down and sneak right down the first path you come across. Take a little left on this path and you’ll see an open pit just ahead, which you can drop down to find the TMP, with some ammo and a spare knife.
Normally the pit in the demo is covered with a lid, but for some reason if you enter with an empty inventory you will find the pit open. Don’t worry too much about throwing it all away either: there’s plenty of machine gun ammo in the underground cavern, and you’ll even get a knife to replace the one you threw on the ground.
If you’re trying to tackle the ultra-hard mode in the Resident Evil 4 Remake demo, you’ll be glad to hear it once you unlock the TMP, it transfers to new games. It’s also a very powerful weapon in its own right: with 50 rounds before you need to reload and a bucket full of spare ammo, you’ll get through angry crowds faster than Leon can say “Bingo”.
