Yesterday we told you about the arrival of the VRR on PlayStation 5, which the company has announced will be available in the coming months. And now we have found a surprise in its latest update. You can now enjoy ALLM on your PS5 after its latest update.

In case you are not familiar with this gaming function, say that ALLM allows your smart TV to communicate with a console to automatically activate game mode, which reduces latency and improves the user experience. Now, after updating your PS5, ALLM mode will be activated when you open a game and will be automatically deactivated when you play a Blu-ray disc or watch a movie on Netflix, for example.

Sony PS5 already offers ALLM support

As reported by Vincent Theo through his Twitter account, the PS5 now offers ALLM support after its latest update . Until now, Sony used its own system to automatically recognize to switch to game mode, but it worked in a more limited way since it was activated when using the PS5, regardless of whether you were playing or watching any content. Now with ALLM this problem is solved.

Interestingly, ALLM support does not appear in the update log , but it was included in the beta version. And in the press release issued by Sony we can read that « Thanks to the help of beta participants, we are going to include some of the features requested by fans around the world, such as the ability to create or join open groups and closed from PS5 and PS4 consoles. For PS5 we’ve also improved the Game Base UI and trophy cards, and added accessibility features like mono audio for headphones.”

On the other hand, Vincent Teoh of HDTVTest has confirmed the arrival of ALLM mode on PS5. It should be remembered that, in order to enjoy the arrival of ALLM support on the PlayStation 5 , it is essential that your smart TV has a full HDMI 2.1 port and ALLM support.

Also, each manufacturer may implement this mode differently. For example, LG has an Instant Game Response option that disables all processing features, including image smoothing, when it detects a connected console.

Regarding the arrival of the PS5 update to add VRR support, be patient. In the same statement they stated that “Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is planned to launch for PS5 in the coming months. On HDMI 2.1-compatible TVs and PC monitors, VRR dynamically syncs the display’s refresh rate with the PS5 console’s graphical output. Optimizes the visual performance of PS5 games by minimizing or eliminating visual artifacts such as frame skipping and tearing. Many PS5 titles experience smoother gameplay as environments render instantly, graphics are sharper, and input lag is reduced. Previously released PS5 games may be optimized for VRR via patch and future games may include VRR support at launch.

Also, note that PS5 games that are not natively compatible with this tool can be optimized for VRR through a patch, a detail to take into account and that will allow us to get the most out of this console.
