If you haven’t experienced Terraria Shimmer yet, you’re missing out. The mysterious new liquid was introduced with Terraria’s 1.4.4 update, Labor of Love, and it’s been among the funniest additions to one of the best sandbox games on PC since it was released a while ago. more than ten years. Now it looks like it will be easier to use than ever, thanks to the much-requested addition of a Shimmer water gun.

Shimmer is a magical substance that can be found in a hidden mini-biome after the Labor of Love update. We won’t cover everything it does here, but suffice it to say that it offers a wide range of possibilities. You can shape many newly created items into their components, convert some specific resources and equipment into new, more powerful forms, and even apply some pretty spectacular effects to your own player if you’re ready to dip your toes.

However, perhaps most crucial here is Shimmer’s ability to transform various enemies, creatures, and even the appearance of NPCs in your town. This has a number of interesting applications, including the ability to completely overhaul what everyone in your Terraria world looks like to bring a new drip to your server.

The problem as it stands is that transforming NPCs is currently a bit cumbersome process. Currently, you can only apply the effects by dipping characters or enemies into pools of Shimmer. As such, you need to create a dunk tank somewhere convenient and then convince your NPCs to go there so you can drop them off. Enter the water gun.

Highlighting how cool all of the Shimmer NPC variants are on Twitter, Terraria YouTuber James ‘ChippyGaming’ Bennett says, “I wish someday we had a shiny water gun so I could see them more often.” In response, Re-Logic President Andrew “Redigit” Spinks simply editions an image of a pixie that appears to be just that. Good news, and we can’t wait to start spraying Shimmer everywhere; maybe even open up the ability to use it on certain bosses for unique results, but only time will tell.

Lead Artist Victor ‘Crowno’ Moura adds, “There’s no such thing as having your wish granted before you ask for it,” suggesting the tool is likely already in the works. Moura also provides some fun additional backstory on the skins, calling them his “favorite thing I did in the last update.” He grades that the Shimmer Zoologist sprite is actually based on his original concept for the character, which ultimately wasn’t the design the team settled on, so he’s excited to see him return as an official Shimmer variant .

Please note that although the Shimmer gun sprite shown is the one provided by Redigit, the header image for this article is purely an artist’s impression on my part. NPCs aren’t that big. At least not yet.
